Personally, I'd recommend a Mac unit, Macs are very reliable.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3623132.post-1156064460445274382006-08-20T14:31:00.000+05:302006-08-20T14:31:00.000+05:30I have personally been using IBM (now Lenovo) for ...I have personally been using IBM (now Lenovo) for the past 3 years and recommend Lenovo. Some high end models come with ThinkVantage technologies including Thinklight (useful while travelling) and good backup softwares.

I recommend that you pick a laptop with 3 years warranty as the spares of laptops are generally expensive if bought separately.

Offcourse Lenovo support is good, which is very important.

All the best.Anandhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15788204467769106607noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3623132.post-1155885651797615622006-08-18T12:50:00.000+05:302006-08-18T12:50:00.000+05:30Acer has good series of laptops with 15.4" crystal...Acer has good series of laptops with 15.4" crystal bright screens, wi fi and the like with both AMD and Intel (inc. dual core) chips for Rs. 40 to 50 K. Try Sony Vaio Notebooks (if price isn't too much of a consideration). Preferably avoid HP.
Personally I have been using a IBM Thinkpad R51 series for the last 1.5 years and haven't had any issues with it. But, the R series is slightly heavier and hence I would recommend the T series, even though it would cost something like 10-15K more than the R series.
You can also consider Toshiba/Compaq satellite laptops if price is of utmost importance.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
