As this post from Ed Batista shows Drucker said it, Gallup research said it and now Seth Godin is saying it too. And it holds true for both individuals as well as organizations.
When you are focussed on excellence and really bent on making a dent in the universe, concentrate on building your strengths rather than trying to build something that you might not have.

That is the classic thought of the stone ages and (It pisses me when I read some stuff like that. Thought it comes from 'Seth God' I think is BS). In the new era u gotta have breadth. If u think developing a new skill to a certain extent is a waste of time then life is not fun. Also the best guys learn from new skills and apply it in all facets of life. After all u r one single human being!
